  • Overview

    The investment services specialist is responsible for supporting our digital wealth platform (DWP) by understanding the components of the account opening and investment recommendation process. The successful candidate will provide timely and accurate support for trade and cash management, , investment reporting, and maintenance of investment exclusions for First Affirmative and Folio. This associate will also facilitate growth of assets and advisors for the First Affirmative organization by supporting the onboarding of staff and advisors using the DWP. 

    Responsibilities

    • Understand investment components that are part of the DWP platform (Investment Policy Statements, Client Questionnaire, Social Policy Questionnaire, generation of investment recommendations, etc.)
    • Support maintenance of and enhancements to the DWP by providing data analytics and feedback
    • Facilitate roll-out and ongoing support of the DWP, including training of supporting staff, Advisors, and Clients, in addition to working with new Advisors
    • Implement enhancements and communicate updates to staff, advisors, and clients regarding DWP
    • Pursue continuous improvement opportunities and recommend/support change processes to promote efficiencies, improve services to minimize risks, and reduce errors and associated costs
    • Support First Affirmative’s responsible investing philosophy through partnership with Advocacy Team
    • Carry out or participate in special projects and other duties as assigned
    • Support the daily reconciliation process for funds received and its appropriate investment
    • Execution and maintenance of reoccurring distributions instructions
    • Liquidate positions as instructed and reconcile any discrepancies
    • Coordinate with Client and Advisory Services to ensure timely and accurate execution of client account transactions. Work to ensure seamless onboarding process of all new client accounts and accurate execution of all trade requests.  Liquidate and reconcile client account closures, monitor trade orders, and resolve any data or compliance issues
    • Support quantitative research and data modeling. Collect market activity information and generate reports for analysis and/or create ad hoc reports upon request
    • Evaluate existing Managed Mutual Fund accounts for desirability of conversion from retails class shares to institutional class shares
    • Carry out or participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience in financial services or investment management is preferred                             
    • Experience with data analysis and project management preferred
    • Working knowledge of customer relationship management software (Salesforce) preferred, and all Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of portfolio management and system software is a plus
    • Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of mutual funds, stock allocation, individual equities, fixed income products and portfolio risk allocation
    • Ability to develop basic knowledge of portfolio accounting principles, trade modeling and rebalancing of accounts
    • Ability to work across multiple database management systems
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paces, time sensitive environment with excellent attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and good time management skills
    • Customer service orientation with ability to build and maintain working relationships internally and externally
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment to promote efficiencies, with the ability to prioritize daily responsibilities and processing in accordance with service standards and protocols, operational procedures and compliance requirements
    • Effective written and oral communication, including interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external clients

     

    Working Environment:

                

    • Work is performed primarily in an office setting
    • High volume of PC use daily
    • Limited local or regional travel may be required to coordinate with advisors, attend meetings
    • May be required to work occasional weekends and/or evenings to meet deadlines or attend special events occurring outside normal office hours

     

    Physical Requirements:

    Primarily sedentary physical work with occasional lifting, carrying, walking, standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate keyboard and standard office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information, verbal communication and hearing to communicate with staff and external customers and other contacts.

     

    Equipment Used:

    Frequent use of computer keyboard, standard office equipment including computer, printer, calculator, photocopy machine, fax, telephone, shredder, etc.
