    Our hybrid environment requires an Architect that is flexible and capable of taking on responsibilities that range from strategic to tactical in nature.

    The application architect has mastered the value, use, development and delivery of software intensive systems. They have developed skills in software development lifecycles, software engineering and software design. The application architect is responsible for the value generated from software systems or system of systems within their direct supervision. They work with project teams to ensure value is delivered for investment and feed resulting valuation results into the business, information and infrastructure areas. Additionally, they provide strategic standards, principles, and guidelines to the application delivery teams. 


    The application architect owns the true value of a software system from inception throughout its full system lifecycle (through end of life of the system). This value may be communicated through robust analysis of the system components and the tradeoffs made during design and development. The application architect may, in addition, create numerous formal models of the software and its impact on the overall topology of the technical strategy. 


    What you’ll do for us:

    • Provide technical and architectural leadership for multi-platform and iOS mobile and web applications.
    • Create project and application architecture deliverables that are consistent with architecture principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Lead technical design sessions with the development teams, including the creation of class models, sequence diagrams, component models, etc., and detailed design specifications to ensure that architecture standards are followed.
    • Provide expert knowledge of mobile application architecture to business and technology teams and facilitating the collaborative development of the technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.
    • Provide support / guidance to the development teams during the analysis, development, and testing processes.
    • Work with product owners to review business drivers, needs, and strategies to anticipate future business / technology needs.
    • Communicate implications of architectural decisions, technology costs, benefits, and implementation requirements to business and IT Leadership.
    • Define and validate non-functional (technical) requirements, and establish traceability between requirements and application architecture/design.
    • Provide input to the development of project initiation documents including objectives, scope, approach, estimates, and deliverables, when needed..
    • Seek and capitalize on the opportunities to improve productivity, time-to-market, solutions quality, and cost effectiveness.
    • Create a culture that is based on knowledge sharing and learning from best practices.
    • Exhibit high level of professional flexibility and volunteering innovation and new ideas.


    Technical skills, experience and qualifications that will make you successful in this role:

    • 7 - 10+ years of overall IT experience.
    • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing the highly scalable, high available web based applications.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline (can be offset by experience).
    • Experience in developing project scoping and scaling deliverables.
    • Experience designing Responsive Web Applications.
    • Experience in analyzing, re-architecting the legacy applications.
    • Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE.
    • Expert understanding of Object Oriented Programming and SOA architecture.
    • Good understanding of UI frameworks such as one or more of the following: Angular, CSS, HTML, etc.
    • Proven capacity to work independently and manage multiple competing demands.
    • Hands on experience in development, for web based applications, for the cloud.
    • Able to take high level requirements and develop software architecture with minimum supervision.
    • Proven track record of keeping up to date with development practices, frameworks, tooling, etc.
    • Experience in cloud-based (AWS, etc.) architecture is beneficial.


    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
